I’m on a quest….

“Don Quixote” by Pablo Picasso, 1955

Sounds romantic, doesn’t it?  The word immediately evokes thoughts of Don Quixote and “The Man of La Mancha” (admit it, you’re humming “The Impossible Dream” already, aren’t you?).  Ahhh, that it were so noble.  In reality, my quest is much more pedestrian (yes, that means ‘commonplace’ or ‘unimaginative’, but it sounds a lot sexier than ‘dull’, right?).  My quest is to rid the house of HAIR BALLS!

The pesky interloper….

It pains me to admit it, but I simply cannot get the best of these little beasts!  It doesn’t seem to matter how frequently I vacuum or how often I brush the dogs–as soon as I turn around, there are two more in the corner.  Ah well, back in to battle with my trusty Electrolux.

“To dream the impossible dream, to fight the unbeatable foe…”  Don Quixote, buddy, I am feelin’ ya….

  4. If you attain your quest at some point, please find me to let me know how you surmouted this unsurmoutable task! I, too, am plagued by the incessant hairballs that taunt me at every corner and table leg. We clean all the time, but five seconds afterwards, voila – they appear again! Love the post! 😉 Joanna

    • Still fightin’ the good fight at present, Joanna! 😉 As you may have seen in the comments, a friend and fellow Lab owner recommended a leaf blower. Initially, I laughed, but I’m beginning to think she may be onto something!! Thx for stopping by my blog!

      • In all seriousness, there is a dinky Bissell (I think) hand vac on a stick. Well that is what I call it. It is like a dust buster but it has a couple wheels and a handle (and a plug thankfully so it doesn’t die after two weeks of use). Needless to say this item is like the cleaning holy grail in our house. Twenty bucks well spent. Just an idea. 🙂

      • That sounds like a *great* idea–would be perfect for a quick spin around the LR and kitchen. I’m going to check it out today–thanks Joanna!!

      • It’s nothing fancy so don’t stress about buying a corresponding Donna Reed outfit, but it does the trick!

      • Oh drat–I’m always on the prowl for an excuse to pick up a new outfit…. 😉

    • Hi Maureen, I just saw this and I’m so thrilled–thank you!! I haven’t been as active with my blog lately as I’d like, but I really do enjoy it, and it delights me to no end to hear that others do as well! Thank you again for your ‘vote of confidence.’ Warmly, Lori

    2 words…..leaf blower!

  7. Hair Balls. Where does one start in a comment?

  8. Summer is the time when my buddy renews her hair…and as she snuggles in with me at night, imagine the quest as you, to get them off my bed …:)

The Sirs don’t shed, but hair falls where it may..I use my trusty dusty Dustbuster, just ’cause I hate hauling out the vacuum all the time. And given how often i use it, it’s way less cumbersome. That said, if one enjoys singing the Impossible Dream while vacuuming, far be it for me to separate one from the quest…Sing on!! hugs, m

    • Ohmagosh, Mimi, you are so lucky! Lola Bug’s hair is like human hair, and Beau’s is just, well, hairy. I honestly can’t get over how much the two of them shed–you’d think they’d go bald, but oh no, those little follicles are workin’ overtime to supply new material! 😉 That’s OK, cleaning up keeps me out of trouble….
